Nottingham Hospitals Radio is please to bring you “A Pocket Of Poetry”.
Becca and Heidi are University of Nottingham students who are bringing us a number of poetry items for your enjoyment.
I’m Becca, a 21-year-old poet from Essex and I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Arts at Nottingham University Hospitals team as one of two Hospital Radio Poetry Contributors. Poetry tends to be at the centre of everything I do. As a third-year English with Creative Writing student at the University of Nottingham, I’m constantly exploring how words can connect and inspire. I’ve been writing and performing for several years now, sharing my work across the country, and publishing two poetry books that have been sold worldwide! Writing has always been a way for me to make sense of the world; it has allowed me to heal, to connect and to learn more about myself and others. As Amanda Gorman beautifully writes, ‘Poetry is its own prayer. The closest words come to will.'
Becca
Hi! My name’s Heidi and I’m so excited to be running A Pocket of Poetry with Becca on Nottingham Hospitals Radio. I’m 20 years old and in my third year at Nottingham University, studying English with Creative Writing. If it’s not already obvious, I adore poetry, and spend a lot of my spare time reading it, as well as writing my own. Poetry has always been a means for me to express myself and relate to others – I believe the beauty of poetry is its ability to evoke big emotions in a small amount of words. My current favourite collection is Flèche by Mary Jean Chan. I can’t wait to share some snippets of the poetry world with you all!

We’ll be broadcasting Becca and Heidi’s work over the next few weeks and we’ll be talking with them live a couple of times.
