NCFC v York 070821

Notts County v York City

Saturday 7th August see’s the visit of York City (The Minstermen!) to Meadow Lane for another pre-season Friendly.

Unlike last weeks visitors who reside in the Championship (just!), York City now find themselves in the National League North.

The NHR Sports team in the form of Richard Smith and Mark Lonsdale will bring you live commentary of the game from 15:00.

Did you know, York are nicknamed “the Minstermen”, in reference to York Minster (Original Hey!) the nickname is believed to have been coined by a journalist who came to watch the team during a successful cup run, and was only first used officially in literature in 1972.

Before this, York were known as “the Robins”, because of the team’s red shirts

They were billed “the Happy Wanderers”, after a popular song, at the time of their run in the 1954–55 FA Cup.

NCFC v DCFC

Notts County v Derby County

It hasn’t been long since we last had football on NHR, the 12th of June to be precise.

The NHR sports team are a keen lot and are eager to get back at it. So this Sunday 1st August, they are going to bring you live coverage from Meadow Lane of the pre-season friendly against Derby County.

It’s fair to say, the two teams had very different ends to the season. Notts were fighting for promotion, Derby were fighting for survival in more than one way.

The fact that Derby’s problems continue will make this an interesting game.

Join Richard Smith and Chris Kemp for live commentary from 12:50 this Sunday (01/08/2021) to find out how it goes.
