WAW2020

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2020

November 18th – 24th 2020 is World Antimicrobial Awareness week 2020.

Every year, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week aims to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to stop the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

We heard from Annette From Nottingham University Hospitals Pharmacy today talking about why this is so important.

For advice about antibiotics you can ask your pharmacist, doctor or nurse.

Antibiotic research UK has a patient helpline to support those patients with antibiotic resistant infections.  If you want to be directed to some useful resources, or to be put in touch with other patients with a similar condition or for a friendly chat and support you can contact 07367784114 or you can email patient.support@antibioticresearch.org.uk

They also have a website which is; antibioticresearch.org.uk

If you have recently been discharged from hospital following treatment of an infection, we have patient information that can be given on discharge or you can look online at:  www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/infections/
