One of the original reasons for Hospital Radio coming into being was so that patients could still hear news and commentary on their favourite team even if they were in Hospital.

As part of our service at NHR, it has been our pleasure and privilege to attend local and national sporting fixtures concerning our local teams, providing full match commenta

ries and reports on Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club since the 1980s.

Scoreboard

Our regular Saturday sports show ‘Scoreboard’ during the winter months usually features either Forest or County (or both on occasions) along with news, scores and results from other games and sports worldwide giving the listener a comprehensive service.

Scoreboard presenter Stephen Hall said “My experience from speaking to patients, backed-up by Hospedia listening figures suggests football commentaries are some of the most-listened to programmes on NHR and attract patients who would never otherwise tune in for the daily music and chat that we offer.”

Regular commentator Richard Smith added, “Our commentaries play a vital role in helping distract patients from the reason they are in Hospital as well as keeping them in touch with events as they happen.”

We’re always on the lookout for new people to join our sports team, so if you fancy becoming the next John Motson or Eleanor Oldroyd or help out with the production of the sports shows in the studio where full training can be given, then please visit our website at www.nhradio.org.uk
